The Lake Jericho Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is an 100% all professional volunteer fire and rescue department. This is a great opportunity to serve your community while receiving some invaluable training and experiences that will last a lifetime.
Our department will accept applications of interested candidates on a year-round basis from those who reside in the designated areas who wish to volunteer in support of our mission which is to provide fire prevention-education, fire suppression and emergency services response to our community. Periods for application review, interviewing, acceptance and denials are typically held quarterly throughout the year.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT:
If you are interested in joining our Lake Jericho Volunteer Fire Family here are a few requirements that have to met:
- You must be 18 years of age (15 years of age for cadets) or older.
- Our Cadet Firefighters do not have a residency requirement.(See Cadet Firefighters Section for more details)
- You must be a U.S. citizen
- You must be a high school, GED, or equivalent graduate (unless applying for a Cadet Firefighter position).
- You must have a valid Commonwealth of Kentucky drivers license.
- Must be found to be of good moral character with no previous criminal or felony convictions .
- Must Reside or work in the response area of Lake Jericho Volunteer Fire and Rescue service area (or in the city or town that is directly adjacent to it.) due to the expectation of the industry acceptable standard of a timely response of members off duty to 911 calls for assistance.
- You can always stop by our Fire Station at 531 Lake Jericho Road ,Smithfield, Kentucky 40068, or on the First Wednesday of every month before our monthly stated business meeting at 7:00pm to pick up an application.
