Your Hometown Firefighters at Lake Jericho Fire & Rescue have completed comprehensive training on Grain Bin Rescue. This hands-on session equips our team with the skills necessary to tackle grain rescue emergencies, ensuring we are prepared to assist our community when it matters most.

Our commitment to community safety drives us to continually enhance our capabilities. Grain Bin Rescue training is a critical part of this mission, allowing our firefighters to respond effectively to grain bin entrapments, which are a significant risk in agricultural areas like ours.

Grain Bin Safety Tips
Never Enter a Grain Bin Alone:
Always have a spotter outside the bin. Use a safety harness and lifeline if you must enter.

Lockout/Tagout:
Ensure all machinery is turned off and locked out before entering a bin to prevent accidental operation.

Ventilation:
Properly ventilate the grain bin before entry to reduce the risk of toxic gas exposure and oxygen deficiency.

Wear Proper Gear:
Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including a dust mask or respirator to avoid inhaling grain dust.

Monitor Grain Conditions:
Regularly check the condition of stored grain to prevent clumping and spoilage, which can create dangerous situations.

Communication:
Maintain constant communication with someone outside the bin and establish hand signals or radio communication methods.

Training:
Ensure all personnel involved in grain bin operations are trained in safe practices and emergency procedures.

Our training and preparedness reflect our unwavering dedication to serving and protecting our community. We are ready to respond to any emergency, and our newly acquired skills in Grain Bin Rescue are another testament to our commitment to your safety.
