The Lake Jericho Fire & Rescue Department hosted a comprehensive Water Rescue and Recovery awareness course that began last week and was followed up by an all day practical application of skills relating to surface stillwater rescue, shore operations and recovery response, safe Boat Operations, self & vessel recovery, as well as proper accountability and on incident command procedures. Following the Industry accepted guidance and the NFPA 1670,1952, and 1006 standards the firefighters were able to put their learning to the test. Firefighters of varied certification levels were in attendance including swiftwater rescue awareness thru technician levels as well as PADI and NAUI Rescue certified Divers. 25 Firefighters and officers from Lake Jericho Fire, Campbellsburg Fire, Lagrange Fire, and other outside of the area jurisdictions were in attendance.
